THE EVOLUTION OF CHRISTMAS

The word evolution takes on a negative connotation to adherents of many religions but it is because these adherents do not understand the word evolution. In spite of that fact, evolution is a scientific fact and speaks truth, in particular historical truth. As humankind evolved so did the cultures (traditions, religions etc.) that became secondary to the nature of all humankind.

What we now recognize as humankind evolved 6 million years ago. While what we now recognize as modern man evolved only 150,000 years ago. In spite of the fact that modern man is the most recent humankind to evolve, we know very little about him, due to several factors. (1) Even though modern man is only 150,000 years old humankind has been living in organized cultures (cities, tribes, clans etc.) for 250,000 years (2) the scientific evidence, though circumstantial evidence,(ancient permanent writing) suggest that Humankind has been writing for 14,000 of his 250,000-year existence as cultural human kind. (3) Of the 14,000 years of humankind writing on leaves etc. only the last 8,000 years of writings on un perishable materials (skins, mud, stone, paper, etc.) has been preserved (4) Of the 8,000 years of written material that we have available to us, we can only decipher that that has been, written in the last 4,000 years.

It is now believed that for 800,000 years humankind engaged in sidereal mythology (worshiped the stars) before spending the next 350,000 years of humankinds existence worshiping the moon (we have 350,000 year old lunar calendars used for tracking Reindeer…
